It has been a while since Google and Yahoo had their regular dickcomparisons over index size. At a certain point, it seems, Google decided this was beneath them and they deleted the counter which was on display, on the front page, until then. After this it was anyones guess how many sites were known to Google and how many ended up in its index. Today, in a blog-posting, we learned that the Googlebot recently discovered its 1 trillionth URL. Even after deleting URLs with the same destination, there are still supposed to be more than 1 trillion different URLs present. Impressive. (via JoJo in the Skype-SEO-BH-Chat)
